Substance Use Service:
The Substance Use Service (SUS) provides treatment for females 18 years of age and older in need of treatment for alcohol and/or drug use.
Involuntary Substance Use Commitment Required Documents:
The following documents are prepared by the committing court: Order of Commitment for Alcohol and/or Drug Treatment, Affidavit for Commitment, and a Patient Information Form.
Emergency orders for involuntary commitment for alcohol or drug use will be available to those adults in need of emergency treatment. This order allows the patient to be confined for treatment involuntarily for a maximum of five days before discharge. After a period of five days, the Chancery Court will hold a hearing to determine if the patient needs continued treatment for alcohol and/or drug treatment on an involuntary basis.

Oak Circle Center (OCC) Psychiatric Admission:
Oak Circle Center provides acute psychiatric and behavioral health services for adolescents between the ages of 12 years and 17 years and 11 months.
Psychiatric admissions to OCC may be either involuntary or voluntary. Court-ordered involuntary commitments take precedence over voluntary admissions.
As specified by Mississippi statute, a mentally ill person who is between the ages of 14 years and 17 years 11 months may not be admitted voluntarily to a psychiatric treatment facility. The Chancery Court, Youth Court, or Family Court may involuntarily commit an adolescent to OCC for diagnosis and treatment.
A mentally ill person who is under the age of 14 years may be admitted to a psychiatric treatment facility involuntarily or voluntarily. Involuntary admission for adolescents under 14 years of age follow the same guidelines and requirements for involuntary admissions of adolescents between the ages of 14 and 17 years and 11 months.
Oak Circle Center Involuntary Psychiatric Commitment Required Documents:

Oak Circle Center Voluntary Psychiatric Admission (under 14 years of age only):
The following documents are provided by the adolescent’s parent/legal guardian:
A social history completed within the last 6 months that includes the reason for seeking admission to OCC and a description of the current behavior leading to the request for hospitalization. This document may be completed by any health provider who knows the child and family history such as school personnel, treatment facility personnel, a physician, the Mississippi Department of Human Services, Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services, Youth Court, or a Community Mental Health Center; a medical and developmental history along with documentation of a physical exam within 12 months; for children who have had an assessment of intellectual functioning (i.e., IQ scores), a copy of the report must be provided; parents or legal guardians are strongly encouraged to provide records from facilities where the patient has been treated in the past (if applicable); a copy of a physician’s evaluation recommending inpatient psychiatric treatment, copy of guardianship or custody documents (if applicable); Patient Information Form; Voluntary Admission of Children/Adolescents Form; Application for Voluntary Admission of Child/Adolescent Form
