Serendipity: "Finding Valuable or Agreeable Things Not Sought For"

Serendipity is an annual exhibit of artwork created by participants in Art Services classes at Mississippi State Hospital.  The exhibit offers the public an opportunity to view the artist's creative expression and gives the artist an unparalleled sense of accomplishment as they see their work on display.  Works in the exhibit are available by silent auction to the public at myminiauction.com/serendipity or at the in-person show the first Thursday of each September.  All proceeds benefit the artist.

The Art Services Program offers structured individual or group sessions designed to meet a wide range of therapeutic needs, as well as to increase competency in self-expression, visual communication, creative processes and cognitive understanding of art materials and methods. Some positive outcomes include enhanced self-esteem, positive use of leisure time, maintains motor skills, enriches verbal and non-verbal communication, builds social skills, and provides a venue for independence.
